_HUNGER_TILES_Alice_Pierre.png

Alice JL Pierre is a bilingual artist using photography and writing in her practice. Based in Brighton (UK), she is a PhD researcher in Photoliterature. Her work has always focused on the human body and all its possibilities as a canvas for art and emotions.

Of the work featured here, Alice states:

‘Inspired by the work of 20th century photographer André Kertész in his series Distortions (1933), I wanted the photographs to portray an ever-changing relationship to one's body, and the inability to observe one's own body through its evolution, through the distortions of certain parts of the body. This is also conveyed through the written part of the photopoem, where hunger is associated to toxic relationships, emotional hunger and eating disorders.’
