Anna Battersby has been working in the Third Sector for over twenty years. She is as highly motivated by the incredible work charities do as she is by the immersive experience of her own artwork and writing. In the 1980’s, Anna studied Fine Art and Mixed Media at the Byam Shaw School of Art. Her final year show included handmade books of her poetry and illustrations. She now makes short art films as well using photography, collages and writing poetry to express what she calls ‘other worldliness.’
Of the poems featured here, Anna says:
'These 3 latest poems have ‘arrived’ during a time of emotional turbulence, mostly from the loss of my father in January 2024 and the hungering to be able to speak with him again. These poems are conversations about the emptiness I carry and like all my poems, help to say the unsayable.
Poetry is a bridge between the conscious and subconscious realms, they sustain us, nourish us and often, inadvertently reveal new pathways to deeper understanding.'
