Laura Keogh is a professional animator, born in Dublin, Ireland and now living in Meath. Laura attended Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology and graduated with BA Honours in Animation. She has been working in the Animation industry for six years and is very passionate about the horror genre particularly within art and film. Laura often blends her animation experience into her art style to create a unique form of horror art. She also experiments with blending photography and digital art to create eerie scenes.
Of the motivation behind the work, Laura states:
‘My motivation for the chosen pieces was that they were meant to be part of an online project. I was hoping to create what is called an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) called Pinebrook Hill. ARG's are often social media profiles such as on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr etc that post mysterious content and tell a story through the images, often claiming the content to be real documentation. Followers might play along and follow the story or create their own theories about it. However, my project never really took off and I only created a handful of images before I simply forgot about it. I am still very proud of my ideas, one even based on a "Childhood Memory" (gasp!) of the glowing white ghost. Although Pinebrook Hill was abandoned, you can still find these images (and possibly more in the future) on my art accounts Black-Ditch on most social media!’
